Derek graduated from Lakehead University in 1999, First Class Standing, with an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Political Science). He subsequently obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B.) from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in 2002.
Derek was employed as a summer student with Buset & Partners LLP during the summers of 2000 and 2001.
Derek articled with Buset & Partners LLP from September 2002 to June 2003 and was Called to the Bar in July 2003.
He is currently establishing a general law practice with the firm.
Derek is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
